In Corporate Environmental Responsibility: Challenges and Opportunities, we will discuss the business case for corporate environmental practice.  The one-day workshop aims to initiate a dialogue with business managers about:

  • Interpreting the concept of corporate environmental responsibility and its relevance for your organization
  • Demonstrating the business case for implementing environmentally sound business practices
  • Developing a framework for integrating environmental goals in business decision-making

Workshops will be held in:

Beirut, Lebanon: May 8, 2009

Manama, Bahrain: May 24, 2009

Kuwait City, Kuwait: May 27, 2009

Dubai, UAE: June 2, 2009

Dhahran, Saudi Arabia: June 6, 2009

Amman, Jordan: June 14, 2009

Business managers, government public policy-makers, and civil society leaders are invited to come together for a one-day workshop of seminars and dialogue on corporate environmental responsibility.  The workshop will be hosted and facilitated by local AFED corporate partners and led by AFED staff members.

Workshop participants will be offered insight on the value-creating opportunities of integrating environmental thinking and practice into core business processes.  To provide a context for corporate environmental responsibility (CER), participants will learn about the state of the global as well as regional/local environment.  The practical value of the workshop will be assured through case studies and by dedicating full sessions for dialoguing and discussions.  In addition, the workshop leader will be available for 2 days following the workshop for one-on-one meetings to discuss individual challenges, goals, and aspirations.

At the conclusion of the workshop, we will discuss the formation of a network of local AFED CER communities in each country focused on developing concepts, tools, and methodologies that create a transition toward environmentally sustainable enterprises.  Each community will be self-governing and self-organizing.  AFED will provide basic coordination among the communities.
