The Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED) is honored to announce the inauguration of the "Maroun Semaan Chemical Engineering Building" at the University of Balamand, in a ceremony which took place at the main campus of the university. Mr. Maroun Semaan has been President of Petrofac International since January 2012 and is AFED founding Board of Trustees member. The ceremony was attended by the Superior of Balamand monastery, Head of Balamand university Elie Salem and a number of deans, professors and social figures. Vice President and dean of the engineering faculty thanked Doctor Najjar Semaan who funded the construction of the building, stressing that Semaan's principles were reflected by choosing Balamand University. Salem noted that the University seeks to offer high levels of education, stressing its commitment to ensure a democratic and cultural future in Lebanon, taking into consideration the current situation in the country and the region.
