• AFED at MENAREC, Kuwait, 4-6 April
AFED participated in the Middle East and North Africa Renewable Energy Conference (MENAREC) that was held in Kuwait on 4-6 April. Adnan Shihab-Eldin, AFED Board Member and Director General of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science, participated in an opening debate. Secretary General Najib Saab and Senior Adviser Ibrahim Abdel Gelil took part in various sessions as speakers and panelists http://afed.me/1V2YknR
• ESCWA/UNEP/LAS SDG Meeting, Beirut, 14 April
AFED experts participated in a meeting at the UN House in Beirut, to prepare for the 3rd Arab Forum on Sustainable Development (Amman, 9-10 May 2016) and the 2nd United Nations Environment Assembly (Nairobi, 23-27 May 2016). The meeting was organized by ESCWA with UNEP and the League of Arab States.
• AFED on SDGs at the United Nations General Assembly, New York, 21 April
AFED Secretary General Najib Saab addressed a high-level thematic debate called upon by the President of the United Nations General Assembly, on the implementation of UN sustainable development goals for the year 2030. Saab's statement tackled national responses to implement the SDGs.

• UN Environment Assembly (UNEA), Nairobi, 19-27 May
AFED will be participating at the second United Nations Environment Assembly, to take place at UNEP's headquarters in Nairobi on 23-27 May, and events preceding it, including: Science-Policy Forum (19-20 May), and The High-Level Intergovernmental and Stakeholder Advisory Group (HLG) / Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) Meeting. AFED will present and discuss drafts of its report on Implementing Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab region. AFED Secretary General has been invited as moderator and speaker in four sessions. http://web.unep.org/unea
• AFED to participate in Global Green Growth Forum (3GF), Copenhagen, 6-7 June
The Global Green Growth 2016 summit will zoom in on developing and implementing scalable green growth solutions in the context of the world's new climate goals and targets on sustainable development. The topics during the summit will be energy, water, food, land-use, circular economy and other elements along the sustainable value chains.
